Wine Accessories

Wine accessories incorporate various tools and equipment that are required by the average wine taster and connoisseur. They help enhance the wine tasting experience and here is a brief list of the tools that better your wine tasting adventure.

  • -Corkscrews: A corkscrew is available in various designs, styles and sizes. Smaller corkscrews are used by bartenders, while you may also go for a larger type that is suitable for your counter. These make uncorking the wine bottles easier and avoid cork shredding hazards. A counter top corkscrew willow is helpful only when it is a heavy one. Metal or solid wood bases with a good arm are required. A long narrow corkscrew is ideal if you are looking for a smaller one.

  • -Wine glasses: Wine glasses are handy to have around your cellar for general purposes. You can have separate glasses for white and red wines or believe that various varietals must have their own glasses. The opening and bowl must be large enough to include red wine without being too large for the white variety. These riedel wine glasses are seen in the casual plus restaurants. A set of 8 glasses are ideal for you, your beloved, friends, colleagues and family members. The glassware is not too expensive, and thus do not need to be handled with too much care.

  • -Small or Medium Wine Fridge: It is important to store the wine in the ideal temperature as it guarantees proper aging and that when ready for tasting, it will have the appropriate temperature. Every connoisseur of wines would love to have a fridge that can room 100 wine bottles, though one with a capacity of holding 20 is more than enough. Today, various options for wine refrigerators are available and they cost between $100 and $200. Expensive fridges have dual zone control allowing people to store white and red wines.

  • -Wine chiller or ice bucket: The wine can be chilled with the help of a refrigerator or a wine fridge. The bucket is however necessary once a bottle is opened and you’ve started enjoying the wine. White wine in a good restaurant is served in a metal or marble tube that is kept in the freezer. It helps preserve the wine, at the same time without making it chilled. The absence of a chiller can be filled up by a bucket in which you put the bottle and give a good ice bath for preserving the temperature. Electric chillers or decanters for single bottles are also available, where you can store the chardonnay.

  • -Decanter: Decanters aerate the wine, allowing the flavors of the wine to open up, and at the same time helps act as a pitcher for serving the wine. Available in different shapes, materials and sizes, with prices depending on the design, quality and size. Make sure that the bottle is seated in the decanters 15/20 minutes after the bottle has been opened. The magic of a decanter is that it can make a cheap wine taste better by integrating the flavors.

Other wine accessories include the wine aerator, drip collar, foil cutter, vacuum seal cork and wine rack.
